Skuta Slovenia Via Kokrsko Sedlo Skuta rises to 2,532 metres above sea level and is one of the most impressive peaks in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Its distinctive pyramid-shaped summit has always attracted my attention, and reaching the top had been on my hiking wish list for a long time. I chose the demanding route from V Koncu via Kokrsko Sedlo. The hike passes through beautiful mountain scenery, rocky limestone terrain and exposed sections before reaching the summit. The final climb requires careful footing and some use of the hands, but the views from the top make the effort worthwhile. Hiking Experience I started my hike at V Koncu, at 875 metres above sea level. I set off early in the morning, following the marked trail towards Cojzova Koča on Kokrsko Sedlo. Veliki Draški Vrh Slovenia Veliki Draški Vrh rises to 2,243 metres above sea level and is one of the most impressive peaks above Pokljuka. From the summit, there is an amazing view towards Triglav and the surrounding Bohinj mountains. I climbed Veliki Draški Vrh from Rudno Polje via Jezerce and Studorski Preval. The route starts quite comfortably through the forest, but becomes more demanding higher up, especially on the unmarked section towards the summit. Hiking Experience I started my hike at Rudno Polje, at 1,347 metres above sea level. From the large parking area opposite the military barracks, I crossed the road and followed the forest road towards the Viševnik ski area. The first part through the forest was comfortable. Climbing Torre di Toblin near Tre Cime Torre di Toblin rises above the mountain landscape near Tre Cime di Lavaredo and is one of the more challenging summits in this part of the Dolomites. At 2,617 metres, the rocky tower stands above Rifugio Locatelli, with Laghi dei Piani and surrounding mountain peaks visible along the route. I reached the area from Rifugio Auronzo, following the trail towards Rifugio Locatelli before continuing towards Torre di Toblin. The easier walking sections gradually give way to stneeeeeper terrain, and eventually to the historic Via Ferrata delle Scalette. The character of the hike changes completely once the climbing begins. Seventeen iron ladders lead through narrow rock chimneys and steep sections, making this a much more demanding route than the popular walking trails around Tre Cime. Laghi dei Piani near Tre Cime Laghi dei Piani, also known as Bödenseen, are beautiful alpine lakes in the Dolomites of northeastern Italy and an important stop on the route near Tre Cime di Lavaredo , one of the most iconic mountain groups in the region. Situated at approximately 2,405 metres above sea level, the lakes are located right behind Rifugio Locatelli (Drei-Zinnen-Hütte), surrounded by impressive alpine scenery, and provide a beautiful place to take a break during a mountain hike. The area around the trail offers peaceful mountain surroundings and impressive views of the high peaks. The trail gradually leaves the lower valleys behind and leads deeper into the high-mountain landscape. From the lakes, the route offers viewpoints towards the higher parts of the Dolomites and the impressive faces of Monte Paterno.
